Aloha Kids!
Soooo......I kicked off 2010 with some mixing chores for Root Mean Square and a short stop at the ESC-finals with Sister Twister. January also included songwriting/preproducing new stuff with PunainenLanka, preproduction of an upcoming album with Donkey Ride and a single for Hencca & Bigband.
+ The Automatic Eye-single "Calling On Angels" is on the B-list on Ylex!!!!!
+ The song "Don't be a stranger" by Jermaine is currently no. 8 on Himotuimmat! The upcoming album was the former of two productions of mine that were mixed at Finnvox lately. The other one was the Collarbone album that got a touch-up from no other than Risto Hemmi.
+ I spent the first week of February recording drums for Donkey Ride at Studio57 on the not-so-trustworthy, good ole' SSL4000. But it sounds fantastic, no doubt.
+ Last week I recorded two songs for the band Frail. How does "downtuned, grunge-pop-rock with a touch of RHCP and The Rasmus" sound? Exactly!

+ The Absoluuttinen Nollapiste album, Musta Hiekka was album of the week on Ylex this week!!!
+ I'm halfway through mixing the Automatic Eye album. Those songs have pop written all over them. The first single, "Calling On Angels" is out now and it's written by me and Pete the singer.
+ Sister Twister are competing in the Finnish national ESC finals. I worked on the song, "Love At The First Sight" as co-writer and producer.
+ Confirmed album productions for next year include Savannah Skyline and August.
+ The new Jermaine album is recorded and will be mixed by Arto Tuunela in a few weeks. Now there's an album and a band with a sound.
+ I should've updated when it was hot news but: the song "Dangerous" performed by Deep Insight was the most played music video in Finland week 41.
+ Finally, I bought an upright piano to my studio. And a new console for the mixer. And a Marshall 1960B 4x12 cab and a Triple Super Lead 60w head. And a Metal Muff. And a Fulltone Distortion Pro. Guitar stuff is just so much fun.

+ Just finished mixing a new Absoluuttinen Nollapiste - album! Wonderful, wonderful songs and sounds.
+ Started mixing the Collarbone album today. Julius Mauranen mixed two songs for the album last week. The other sounds something like a downtuned Weezer meets the Beatles and the other one sounds like Kings Of Leon doing a Sting cover. Or the other way around. Needless to say, they both turned out very good.
+ Recording of a new Jermaine album will start in two weeks at good old Mankku.
+ Some cool and unexpected album productions coming up next year.

You know what sucks ass? That I have the best job you could possibly dream of and you don't. But at least I keep updating so you can catch a glimpse of the awesomeness every once in a while.
+ The Collarbone album is DONE. Recording-wise, that is. Mixing will take place in a month or so at my beloved Victory Audio-studio. Except for maybe one or two songs that I may give for someone else to butcher.
I'm working with Elin Blom (of Sister Twister) on a new song to compete in the ESC with. She also features on the Collarbone album on one song. I can't even begin to describe how good it turned out.
+ I recorded basic tracks for a new Sami Saari album. Besides emo, I now also master the craft of e-motown.

Yo! Here's whazzup:
+ On Sunday, I'm heading down to Helsinki for a week to record basic tracks for the new Collarbone album with Toni Kimpimäki at Sonic Kitchen. The material is brilliant, the band is rehearsed and tight, we'll track drums with a Neve console. Is this going to be a fun week or what?
+ I'm doing a short session in June with Sister Twister.
+ We've started pre-production for the second Automatic Eye album. This will continue throughout summer and we'll start recording sometime in august or early september. It seems we're aiming for honest pop with this one.
+ The Punainen Lanka album is out and got good reviews.
+ The second Deep Insight single, "Dangerous", has hit the radios. Let's hope you like it. It was written by me and Jukka, the singer.
+ I bought myself a Heil PR30 mic. So far it has seen use on toms and guitar cabs.

+ I'm in the middle of tracking an album for the reggae-band Kaemo and a 3 song single for the band Fog. Two of the latter are co-writes.

+ Yo! The first single from the new Deep Insight album is out on their Myspace. And even if I didn't produce this one, I have been at close distance to the album in many other ways.
+ A new Jermaine single is up on their Myspace! It's a song called Way Out and it has some really cool Space-Echo-drenched clean guitar picking on the chorus. And sweet Queen-esque guitars on the middle-eight.
+ The second single from the new Callisto album is on their Myspace along with album info etc. Check it out. You might want to pay attention to the drums on the album. If you listen closely, you'll hear a distorted parallell snare and kick with some good-ole DBX 160 squeeze for definition and snap.

+ Finished shorter sessions with Circus At Dawn, Kehä and Big Blind Willie
+ Will do the remainder of tracking for the Punainen Lanka-album next week after which it's mixing time. Still haven't decided if I want to mix it ITB or on the Toft console.
+ Album productions with Collarbone, Savannah Skyline and Hencca&BigBand and a few others coming up this year.
+ Victory Audio is up and running at full speed and I can now give you better rates than earlier. I'm looking for all kinds of new interesting music, bands and artists to work with.

+ The Kimaira album is mastered and turned out really well. I think we will be hearing a lot from them in the near future. One song will be on this years Soundi-CD that comes with the December issue of the magazine.

Aloha Kids!
